Amethysts are a beautiful gemstone much prized by royalty and the nobility for thousands of years. Kings and queens have treasured the amethyst and the British Crown Jewels have some of the most splendid amethysts ever found.
Amethyst is believed to be one of the most prized and most interesting members of the quartz family. The ancient Romans believed that if you drank amethysts with your wine you would not get drunk so many of the small goblets then were made from amethysts.
Even Leonardo Da Vinci thought well of the gem considering the amethyst was able to dispel bad thoughts and improve one’s intellegence.
